Effective October 9, 2026
J Barrow Legal (“J Barrow Legal,” “we” or “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through jbarrow-legal.com, our business phone line and our scheduling tools, how we use it, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. It does not govern information we receive in the course of representing a client, which is protected by our professional obligations and our engagement terms.
The short version
- We use the information you send us to review and respond to your inquiry, check for conflicts of interest and, if you become a client, provide legal services. We do not use it for anything else.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
- Contacting us does not create an attorney-client relationship. Please do not send confidential information until we have confirmed in writing that we will represent you.
Information you give us
- Website forms. Your name, email address, phone number and the details you choose to share, such as your company, area of need, timeline or a description of your situation. Our athlete inquiry form also asks for sport, position and level of play. Our speaking form asks about your organization and event.
- Scheduling. If you book time through our online calendar, your name, email address, the time you select and any answers you provide.
- Phone calls and text messages. Calls to (216) 930-1320 may be answered by an AI receptionist provided through our phone service. Those calls are recorded and transcribed, and a written summary is prepared for our review. Callers are told about the recording at the start of the call. If you text us, we receive your number and the content of your messages.
- Email and guides. If you email us, we receive your message and contact details. If you request a guide or checklist, we collect your name and email address to deliver it, and you can unsubscribe from any follow-up email at any time.
Information collected automatically
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. It uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as pages viewed, time on site, device and browser type, approximate location, how you arrived at the site, and actions such as button clicks, form submissions and Readiness Scorecard results. It does not receive what you type into our forms. Google processes this information under its own policies, described at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Hosting and fonts. Our hosting provider records standard server information, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver and secure the site. Our fonts load from Google, which receives your IP address when the page loads.
- Readiness Scorecard. Your answers are scored in your browser and are not sent to us. Only your total score and result category are recorded as an analytics event, without your name or contact details.
How we use information
- To review and respond to your inquiry and schedule a conversation.
- To check for conflicts of interest before discussing a matter in detail.
- To provide legal services to clients under a written engagement.
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
- To meet our legal, ethical and professional obligations.
Text messaging
We use text messages only to respond to you and to coordinate scheduling. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
Who helps us process information
We use trusted service providers that process information on our behalf, including Formspree (website forms), Netlify (website hosting), Google (analytics and web fonts), Calendly (scheduling), Quo (business phone, text messaging and AI receptionist), Kit (guide delivery and email), TimeSolv (client billing portal) and our email provider. Each handles information under its own terms and privacy commitments. We may also disclose information when required by law, court order or professional rules, to protect the rights and safety of the firm or others, or in connection with a transfer of the practice consistent with our professional obligations.
Confidentiality and prospective clients
Sending us information through this website, by phone or by email does not create an attorney-client relationship, and information you send before we agree to represent you may not be treated as confidential or privileged. We handle information from prospective clients consistent with our obligations under the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct, including Rule 1.18. For that reason, we ask you to share only a brief description of your situation and the names of the parties involved until our conflict check is complete.
How long we keep information
We keep inquiry information only as long as needed to respond to you, maintain conflict-check records and meet our legal and ethical obligations. Client information is kept according to our file retention practices and the terms of the engagement.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
- You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it or delete it by emailing admin@jbarrow-legal.com. Some records, such as conflict-check and client file records, may need to be kept to meet legal or ethical obligations.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings and opt out of Google Analytics using the add-on linked above.
- Residents of certain states may have additional privacy rights under their state’s law. Contact us and we will respond as applicable law requires.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. Because there is no common standard for these signals, our website does not currently respond to them. You can still limit analytics using the options described above.
Children and minor athletes
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. When a matter involves an athlete under 18, we ask that a parent or guardian take part in the inquiry and any engagement. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Other websites
Our site links to other services, such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Calendly and our client billing portal. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practice and tools change. The effective date above shows when it was last revised.
